How many is too many?
  • It is always tempting to take on too many mentors and/or mentees given the abundance of availability.
  • As a mentor, taking on too many mentees may affect your efficiency, effectiveness and the value delivered to mentees
  • As a mentee, appointing too many mentors for one competency or one goal may lead to contradictory and conflicting advice. On the other hand, working with different mentors on several goals/competencies at the same time may dilute your focus and spread your attention/energy thin.
  • Each of us have different levels of capacity to learn and/or teach. So make sure you are not over extending yourself. Achieving success in a small way is better than the alternative.
